Tom Carlin

Villanova Men's Soccer Head Coach Tom Carlin is not only one of the top young coaches in NCAA Division I soccer; he is a proven leader. Tom is excited to bring his success and passion for the sport to Villanova Soccer Camp this year. The upcoming 2008 season will be Coach Carlin's first year as Head Coach of Villanova. In 2007, Coach Carlin was the Assistant Coach at Villanova and had an immediate impact on the program. Carlin helped lead the Wildcats to the season's best start in history at 9-2, which included the biggest victory in Villanova soccer history beating number one nationally ranked Duke at Duke. The Wildcats were named the Soccer Seven Team of the Year for their efforts. Prior to arriving at Villanova in 2007, Carlin was the Associate Head Coach at Northwestern University from 2006-07. He helped Northwestern advance to the Elite Eight of the 2006 NCAA Tournament. Before his stop at Northwestern, he was the head men's soccer coach at Arcadia University from 2000-06. Carlin tallied a 99-23-9 record at Arcadia and led his teams to three conference titles and three NCAA Tournament appearances including an NCAA run to the Elite 8 in 2002. Carlin holds an "A" license from the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) and a Premier license from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).

Carlin is known for his ability to develop players through proven coaching principles. He looks forward to helping this years camp attendees improve in the area of technique and reach their individual goals...whether that be at youth or college level.

Ian Clerihew

Ian Clerihew begins his first season as Assistant Men's Soccer Coach at Villanova in 2008. Coach Clerihew comes with a wealth of training expertise generated from his experiences as an Assistant Coach at Duke University and St John's University, an Associate Head Coach at Northern Illinois University, a Graduate Assistant at the University of Akron, and a Head Coach at Linfield College. At St.Johns, Clerihew helped guide the Red Storm to a 2006 Big East title. At Linfield, he was named the Northwest Conference Coach of the Year. Clerihew has also been a part of the Olympic Development Program for Region IV. He holds a USSF "A" License.

Additional Staff

Our coaching staff is comprised of hand picked, top youth and college coaches who will help insure that each camper has the experience they are looking for. Most notable college coaches who will be at the camp are: Dennis Bohn, NCAA Division I, Lafayette College; Mike Bonelli, NCAA Division I, Northwestern University; Tim O'Donahue, NCAA Division III, Stevens Institute of Technology; Sean Topping, NCAA Division III, Muhlenberg College; Justin Serpone, NCAA Division III, Amherst College; plus other top collegiate coaches. Be assured they all share Coach Carlin's goal which is for each and every camper at Villanova Soccer camp to leave not only with a better understanding of the game but a greater passion for it as well.
